The newly opened golf academy is Playitas first big step in becoming a seriously recognised top golf resort.
With its large double sided driving range and first class short game and putting facilities combined with a beautifully conditioned 6 hole academy course Playitas is a great destination to learn and enjoy the wonderful game of golf.
The team, headed by fully qualified British PGA professional Murdo McCorquodale is on hand to provide lessons and advise to golfers of all levels in English, Spanish or German.
Murdo has been a golf professional for half of his life since graduating from the amateur ranks at the age of 17, and has plenty of experience with golfers at all levels from Open Champions to complete beginners.
Murdo has taught and competed in his native Scotland, Germany, Portugal, Egypt as well as Spain.
Mudo is married to a native Spanish lady who originally comes from Alicante so is well versed in the Spanish Lifestyle and language and admits thatr being able to speak German is an asset because golf in Germany and Switzerland is a fast growing sport,  his desire is to encourage more youngsters into the game especially from the Canary Islands.
Outside of the UK and USA golf is seen sometimes to be an elitist sport and Murdo would like to change peoples perceptions by making th e sport more accessible here in Fuerteventura  and I will be offering junior coaching during the school holidays at very affordable prices.
The  current six hole course is not to be mistaken for a short pitch and putt course as all the holes are a typical par 3 or 4 length and the tricky plateau greens are all well protected with water or bunkers.
Many tee options are also available so hole lengths can be varied from day to day.
The most outstanding feature of Playitas Golf and Spa Grand Resort is its fantastic condition, the greens, fairways and general tidiness is a credit to the herd working ground staff.
The 18 hole golf course at Playitas is currently under construction and is set amongst the rolling hillside leading down to the Atlantic Ocean.
The undulating par 70 course will be  atough challenge with an exciting mix of holes with many water features and enhancing the natural volcanic look of the area.
The town of Gran Terajal and the picturesque bay of Las Playitas is only a short distance away offering the opportunity to sample the delights of Fuerteventura away from your golf.    

In addition to the Academy of Golf and our 6 hole course, Playitas Grand Resort offers to the golfers who really want to improve their swing and their results, the most important aspect of golf: “the short game”.

Our double sided driving range allows players to practise against the breeze (recommended) or with the wind behind, we also have a superb short game area and a green surrounded by bunkers as well as a further USGA specified putting green to work on what we all know is ‘the most decisive element’ of the game of golf. 

Since our Academy has just opened and this is my first Playitas Pro´s tip I will begin with the most vital part of golf – the grip.
