Fuerteventura has become in one the golf favourite destination. Corralejo has a new 9 holes golf course. Now Fuerteventura has 5 golf courses, and has the best climate to play golf the whole year of Canary Islands and Spain.

Three of the holes are affected by water and others require very accurate hitting. The hole lengths are between 62 to 91 metres and the pins are reposition periodically.
The course is designed with full size greens that are kept in prime condition all year round and with the surrounding planting and stunning views it is the perfect place to spend a couple of hours on a round of golf,or become familiar with the game.

Corralejo Golf Society, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain

Corralejo Golf Society has been established since March 2003. We have nearly 50 members and are constantly welcoming new ones. Our members live in Corralejo, La Oliva, Villaverde, Parque Holandes, Las Caletas, Caleta de Fuste and even the UK!

We play every Tuesday and two Sundays in every month split between the Fuerteventura Golf Club (venue for the 2004 Spanish Open) and the new Salinas Golf Club. We normally play a Stableford competition or have fun day with other formats. We welcome guests who are on holiday to join us for the day and arrange transport to and from the course for free.

Apart from our normal society days out, we also have special Cup days throughout the year, Captains Cup, Presidents Shield that offer great prizes for members and guests alike. The presentation meals in the evening of the cup days are not to be missed!! Along with these we also have yearly eclectic and player of the year competitions. Due to start in June, we are also holding a knockout competition playing for the Individual Match Play Trophy and a big prize! We also have away days, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria trips are always on the cards. Our membership is growing almost weekly and next year is already promising to be another record-breaking year. Both courses are challenging in Caleta, but we always have fabulous days out come hell or high wind!!!

Membership
This year we have 2 types of membership, full membership that costs 50 Euro, this entitles you to entrance in all our events and competitions throughout the year at society rates. Our country membership that costs just 30 Euro, this is designed for the people who only live on the island part-time or visit regularly and allows you to play up to 10 events a year. New members will pay a 20 Euro joining fee and will have their handicap assessed after 3 games. A 20 Euro discount is given to all members registered with the Spanish Federation.

Eclectic Scores
The eclectic score is the accumulation of the best performance on each hole throughout the year. At the end of the year, 25% of the players lowest handicap of the year will be taken off the accumulative eclectic score, i.e. a 16 handicap will have 4 shots taken off their eclectic round. This competition highlights which particular holes that are the trickiest. Altogether, by the end of the year, you should have achieved the round of your dreams. It would be nice if one could have a round like this all in the same day! There is a fabulous prize awaiting the winner of this competition. Separate eclectic competitions will be run on each course.

Player of the Year
Each Tuesday that a member plays with the society, his position in the competition is recorded and scored. A win will get 30 points, 2nd gets 29, 3rd gets 28 etc. The best ten finishes of the year will be added together to find the winner. A trophy, free membership for the year and a fantastic prize are on offer to the player of the year.

Individual Match Play Trophy
After preliminary selection, 16 our members will be playing for the Individual Match Play Trophy. The 16 will then play a one on one knockout competition once a month until it whittles its way down to the final 2. The final round will be held just before Christmas. The higher handicapper of each round will be given 75% of the difference between the handicaps, i.e a 26 handicapper playing against a 14 handicapper will have an extra shot on holes indexed 1-9 (75% of the 12 shots difference). Prizes are as follows, prizes worth 500 Euro for the winner & the Match Play Trophy for 1 year, 2nd gets prizes worth 300 Euro & 3rd gets a prize worth 100 Euro.

Plate Trophy
As a spin off from the Individual Match Play Trophy, the first 16 out of this competition will have automatic entrance into the Plate Trophy. This competition will run alongside the Match Play Trophy and will have a prize of a Plate Trophy for a year.
